How to run a Twitch giveaway
A step-by-step walkthrough for setting up a Twitch giveaway with a verified follow action, a clear timeline, and a fair winner process.
Step 1
Pick a prize your audience actually wants
A giveaway works best when the prize matches your audience — game keys, peripherals, or channel merchandise usually outperform generic gift cards for a gaming-focused community.
Write a short, specific prize description and, where possible, add proof of the prize before launching so viewers know it's real.
Step 2
Set a follow action viewers can trust
Choose a start date, an end date, and turn on a verified follow action instead of relying on viewers to say "followed" in chat. A verified action is checked against Twitch itself before it counts.
You can add optional manual actions on top, such as visiting the channel, but the follow action is what makes the entry count meaningful.
Step 3
Promote it during your normal stream schedule
Mention the giveaway at the start and end of a few streams, pin the link in chat, and add it to your channel panels or description so viewers who missed the stream can still find it.
Because entries can be revisited daily during the campaign, a giveaway mentioned across several streams tends to collect more valid entries than a single one-off post.
Step 4
Pick a winner and close the loop
Once the giveaway ends, a winner is selected randomly from eligible entries. Announce the winner publicly and keep the giveaway page as the record of what happened.
Confirming that the prize was actually delivered — not just that a winner was picked — is what turns one giveaway into a reason viewers trust your next one.
